Amadouni, also known as Prince Vahan Amadouni, was born in Armenia on June 21, 1933. He received his education in Armenia before embarking on a journey abroad. His remarkable talent for drawing captured the attention of an uncle living in Pennsylvania, who sponsored his immigration to the United States. Amadouni enrolled at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, where he dedicated seven years to his studies. During this time, he achieved notable recognition, including the Thouron Prize for the best composition in 1955 and the William Emlen Cresson Prize in 1956. His artistic prowess was further demonstrated when he participated in a prestigious juried exhibition at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where he received both a Purchase Award and an Honorable Mention. After completing his education Amadouni relocated to Northern California, where he held solo exhibitions such as 'Discovery III' at the Bolles Gallery and, in 1962, at the M. H. de Young Memorial Museum in San Francisco. Subsequently, he returned to Europe and showcased his work at the Trastevere Gallery in Rome, where one of his pieces was acquired by the Gallerie de France in Paris. During a trip abroad in 1973, his solo exhibition at the Alex Manoogian Art Gallery in Beirut, Lebanon, garnered both critical acclaim and substantial sales, with the exhibition completely selling out on its opening night. Following his return from the Middle East, Amadouni secured a New York State Change Grant. In 1974, he received a commission to paint and embellish the main altar of Our Lady of Pompei Church in New York City. In 1979, he dedicated his efforts to a private sponsor, continuing preparations for a solo exhibition scheduled for the summer of 1983 at the Gregg Juarez Gallery in Los Angeles.
