One Stoneware Caged Bird Bank and Two Redware Bird Banks, England, c. 1884, and Greg Shooner (b. 1953), Oregonia, Ohio, 2000s. The sculpted glazed stoneware bank has urn-form base with pierced gallery neck below a ribbed funnel lid supporting a roosting chicken, with smaller birds applied around rim and shoulder, the latter surrounding pierced neck containing another chicken figure, the front impressed 'SUSAN ALICE SLATER / AGED 8 YEARS / BARNOLDSWICK' and coin slot cut into unmarked bottom; together with two signed gourd-form redware vessels with coin slot cut into shoulder, each with decorative stem supporting a bird finial, the single-gourd bank (dated 2009) with glazed applied relief molding, and the double-gourd bank (dated 2003) with green, yellow, and orange slip decoration on a dark brown background, largest, wd. 4 1/4, dp. 3 3/4, ht. 11 1/4 in. Footnotes: Note Susan Alice Slater Widgery was born 20 November 1876 in Barnoldswick, England. She married Herbert W. Widgery at Lancaster in 1909, and died in Worthing, England, in 1966.
