Fine Queen Anne Cherry and Sycamore Dressing Table, Glastonbury, Connecticut, c. 1760. Thumb-molded two-board top with four pegs on each side, overhanging joined case with blind-dovetailed frame containing one long drawer over row of three drawers with central blocked and fan-carved square drawer, above an apron stretcher, blocked and carved with conforming cyma-curved arches punctuated by two acorn-turned pendants, the sycamore sides carved with arched bottom edge, and solid pine or poplar backboard, all draw-jointed at corners to continuous stiles raised on Wethersfield-type cabriole legs with angular knees, truncated at rear to align with backboard, all on a platformed, bowl-form pad foot, (repaired chips, shrinkage cracks, split in base of proper right rear foot, remnants of later yellow and bronze paint, replaced period brasses), 83cm wide, 53cm deep, 73cm high (33 3/4in wide, 21in deep, 29 1/2in high).
