Pressed Glass Compote and Pattern Mold, Midwestern United States, mid-19th century. Open round bowl with scalloped rim over band of fans or sheafs intersected by alternating hobnails and oval thumbprints, the serrated interior edge conforming to single ring of diamonds, wafer-joined to ogee pedestal base with central rosette; together with carved hardwood pattern used to create conforming metal press-mold for the bowl, diam. 8, ht. 3 3/4 in. Footnotes: Provenance Collection of Dorothy-Lee Jones Ward (1948-2022), Wellesley, Massachusetts, and Sebago, Maine. Both pieces from collection of Walter E.
