Unsigned; canvas stamped on reverse with 1846-57 stencil mark of retailer J.J. Adams, 99 Washington Street, Boston. Oil on canvas in giltwood frame. framed 25 1/2 x 33 1/2 in. unframed 22 x 30 in. Footnotes: Note Anonyma was built at Boston, Massachusetts, in 1847, designed after the yacht America for which the America's Cup is named. The 42-ton schooner traveled to San Francisco, Hawaii, and finally Australia, where it sank in 1859.
