Small Mirror in Needlework Frame, possibly New Jersey, late 18th century. Silvered looking glass on riven backboard surrounded by wide rectangular frame with bead-molded wooden edges upholstered in dark red twill fabric, the recess lined with tapestry-stitched wool embroidery mounted with brass tacks, wd. 12 3/8, dp. 5/8, ht. 14 3/4 in. Footnotes: Provenance Label attached to reverse associate the mirror with the Van Riper family of New Jersey, and an older label at center top reverse is inscribed 'From G. Davis, given / by will to M.M. Brady / June 14, 1887'. Lot to be sold without reserve.
