Green-painted Slat-back Armchair, America, 18th century. Four bentwood arched slats tenoned to thick cylindrical continuous stiles terminating in ball finials, maple scroll-carved arms projecting over ring-turned supports forming forelegs and square rush seat, the legs joined with double stretchers and two ring-turned front rails, (multiple repairs, legs raised on later pieced feet, later dark green paint over earlier red surface), 60cm wide, 48cm deep, 129cm high (24in wide, 19in deep, 51 1/2in high).
