Springbank-18 year old-1973 Distilled June 1973. Bottled September 1991 by Wm. Cadenhead. '1st bottle from Cask No. 1475 of 1973', hand-written and signed to the rear by 'J. C. A. McDougall, Distillery Manager, 17/9/1991'. In original wooden presentation case. Matured in Rum Butt. Good labelling, some marking and small nicks to hand-written rear label. Level: Filled to 70cl. Single malt, 57.5% volume 1 bottle Footnotes: John C. McDougall, renowned distillery and production manager, is known as one of the only individuals to have produced whiskies in each of Scotland's distilling regions. Working in the industry for over 50 years, he has vast experience from time in some of the world's most celebrated distilleries, including Laphroaig, Balvenie and Springbank. Beginning his career at United Distillers (now Diageo), McDougall became the youngest ever distillery manager when he joined Balvenie at the age of 26. Two years later, he became manager of Laphroaig and subsequently production manager at Long John International. Joining Springbank Distillery in 1986, McDougall stayed for 10 years, during which time he helped cement its reputation as a world class spirits producer, following years of sporadic and minimal production. This stunning bottle of Springbank 18 year old 1973, bottled by William Cadenhead, is signed by John McDougall and dated 17/9/1991, halfway through his tenure at the famed Campbeltown distillery.
