Single malt, 51 abv 1 bottle Footnotes: The Macallan Mizunara 33 Year Old 1990, is the third and final instalment in the Macallan Mizunara project by The East Asia Whisky Company. This edition, named 'Komorebi' meaning 'golden beams of light filtering through tree leaves', was matured for 31 years in Macallan ex-Bourbon #25233 and was re-racked in 2021 for a final two years into a Japanese Mizunara oak cask from Hokkaido. The oak, certified from the only independent cooperage in Japan as being at least 80 years old, was dried for three years before being heavily charred to level 4 – yielding a spirit that resonates with the distinctive sandalwood and incense notes Mizunara is known for. This final chapter in the Macallan Mizunara series, which celebrates the maturation of the oak in all forms, sees the fully grown tree in full bloom.
