The remaining works come from the 1950s, when Abedin founded the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Dhaka. During this time, he painted a series of works depicting the natural beauty of the rural landscapes, people, and animals of Bangladesh. These works are captivating in their simplicity. He used vibrant colours to illustrate the Santhal men and women and used geometric shapes for his compositions to create patterns and textures adding depth and visual interest to his artworks.
