Sharh-i dala'il al-khayrat, commentaire du célèbre recueil de prières Dala'il al-Khayrat d'al-Jazuli, Turquie Ottomane fin XVIIIe-début XIXe siècle Sharh-i dala'il al-khayrat, a commentary on the well-known prayer book Dala'il al-Khayrat by al-Jazuli, Ottoman Turkey, late 18th/early 19th Century Arabic manuscript on paper, 13 lines to the page written in naskhi script in black ink, verse-endings marked by gold roundels, inner margins ruled in black and gold, chapter headings written in white on a gold ground within illuminated panels, extensive marginal commentaries in Ottoman Turkish in smaller naskhi script, one illuminated headpiece in colours and gold, marbled doublures, aubergine leather binding with stamped gold central medallions and cornerpieces, with flap 193 x 129 mm. Footnotes: Please note that there is one further illuminated headpiece, making two in total. The manuscript also contains the two illuminated illustrations on facing pages, typical of al-Jazuli's text, depicting the tombs of the Prophet and of the Caliphs Abu Bakr and 'Umar, and the Minbar in the Mosque of the Prophet, Medina. Provenance Property from a Royal Collection. A note at the end of the manuscript, dated AH 1278/AD 1861-62, states that it belonged to Mehmed Cavid Agha, the Head Eunuch (Bash-Aghasi) of Refia Sultan (d. 1880), who was apparently the daughter of Sultan Abdülmecid I.
