AC/DC Angus Young Stage Worn Hat. 1970s. The green velvet schoolboy-style hat, with a capital 'A' appliquéd on the front, typical to those hats worn by Angus Young on numerous occasions, accompanied by a letter of provenance and a photograph of Angus Young in an identical hat. Footnotes: Provenance: Caught by the vendor on August 11, 1977 at the B.Ginnings nightclub in Schaumburg Illinois, when Angus Young threw it out into the audience. B.Ginnings was part owned by Danny Seraphine (drummer for the band Chicago from 1974-1980). On this occasion AC/DC were supporting local band Off Broadway. AC/DC's Let There Be Rock tour was their first in the US. Although the band had already released four albums, and were one of Australia's top bands, they were relegated to opening slots on this tour. This tour also marked some of the earliest appearances of bassist Cliff Williams who would remain with the band through 2016. Angus Young experimented in the early days of AC/DC with several different stage costumes before settling on the school boy outfit suggested and first sewn by his sister Margaret. The present example, apparently hand-sewn, is early enough to have been among Margaret Young's handy work. A rare relic from early days of a hard rock powerhouse.
