Vanessa Kirby (as Princess Margaret): A cornelian jewellery suite Season 2, Episode 7, 'Matrimonium' Made by jewellery designer Katy Hackney, comprising a triple strand choker necklace and a pair of flower design clip earrings; together with a quantity of spare cornelian beads, and a pencil and watercolour sketch by costume designer Jane Petrie (qty) Footnotes: Worn by Vanessa Kirby (as Princess Margaret) in the scene with Claire Foy (as the Queen) where they discuss Matthew Goode's (as Tony Armstrong-Jones) proposal. According to Jane Petrie, Costume Designer for Season 2: 'I wanted to make Margaret a pair of earrings and a necklace to wear in an onscreen jewellery battle against Elizabeth's pearls. The sisters were at a point where Margaret's free and fashionable life outside of the palace was causing problems, so her jewellery was to represent those experiences, worn in direct contrast to Elizabeth who was feeling trapped by her role as monarch and would be wearing her traditional, establishment pearls. I knew Katy [Hackney] was the right person to make this necklace because, simple as it looks, it is deceivingly complex. Katy's making skills are such that, upon inspection, every detail is elevated beyond what's immediately apparent. When we chose the size of beads and discussed the length of the necklace, Katy was able to make it balance perfectly, three strings of beads are stacked so that they just land in place and stay perfectly and elegantly placed where they were fitted. It's my favourite jewellery set from Season 2.' For further information on this lot please visit Bonhams.com For further information about this lot please visit the lot listing
