She was the first British-born Queen Consort since Tudor times. When George VI passed away, and Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth II, Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon became Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, to clearly distinguish herself from her daughter, The Sovereign.
