UTAGAWA TOYOKUNI (TOYOKUNI I, 1769-1825) FOUR WOODBLOCK PRINTS Japan, ca. 1800, all depicting Kabuki actors in various settings, including a diptych depicting a stage scene with Ichikawa family actors with a beauty, publisher Tsuruya Kinsuke; a bust portrait of two kabuki actors in a roundel, publisher Mikawaya Seiemon, signed 'Ichiyosai Toyokuni'; and one depicting a group of beauties in a room setting, publisher Izumiya Ichibei, all oban tate-e, to 14 1/2 x 9 3/4 in. Footnotes: Provenance: Alfred and Maria Tarski, Berkeley, California; then by family descent to the Estate of Eva Kristina Ehrenfeucht.
