SHELL CAMEO BRACELET AND EARRINGS, CIRCA 1870 1st: - High relief carving of possibly Dionysus, wearing a lion's skin and grapevines, holding a thyros. - Articulated, engraved panels - Lengths: cameo 4.6cm, bracelet 16.7cm 2nd: - Each panel carved to depict a woman in profile, with flowers in her hair - With ropetwist decoration - Length 5.2cm Total weight approx. 59.5g (2) Footnotes: OVERALL CONDITION 1st: Some surface wear commensurate with age including eye visible discolouration, predominately to both sides of central plaque, to unmarked yellow metal - not hallmarked but testing as 14ct (bracelet) and 9-10ct (mount). Signs of possible repair to the reverse of plaque, at joins between bracelet and cameo mount, in the form of solder marks. 2nd: Each with an indistinct scratched inventory number and 9ct to ear fittings. Some surface wear commensurate with age including some discolouration visible upon closer inspection to unhallmarked yellow metal - not hallmarked but testing as 9ct (ear fittings) and 18ct (mount). Possible signs of repair to join between surmount and pendant on one earring. Crack across the reverse of one pendant cameo. Suitable for non-pierced ears.
