L: 17 cm WITH: a reproduction photograph of Kennedy at his desk with Evelyn Lincoln 330 x 235 mm, showing the black fountain pen resting in a pen stand toward the front of his desk. Provenance: estate of Evelyn Lincoln; sold to Robert White (LOA of Harold W. Lincoln, Evelyn Lincoln's widower). According to the Letter of Authenticity signed by Evelyn Lincoln's widower Harold, this is one of two fountain pens from Kennedy's desk during his administration. The letter reads: 'Dear Robert, / The information handwritten below in this letter of authenticity is accurate as stated because of my personal knowledge of the large collection of my late wife's personal material involved with her long time boss and friend President John F. Kennedy. My wife worked for JFK for over twelve years as his personal secretary. During those years she acquired many things from the President himself and his wife Jackie Kennedy. With this letter you now have in your possession the following...' The next lines are handwritten in blue ink by Robert White: 'A black fountain pen marked ... 'W.A. Scheaffer Pen Co. Fort Madison, Iowa, U.S.A. Made in U.S.A.' It's [sic] nib is 14k gold. This pen was used by John Kennedy and was among the items removed from his desk on November 23, 1963.'
