'Of the sitting, Beaton stated that The Queen Mother had 'so remarkable [a] personality with so much charm and intelligence and wit that everything becomes pleasant in her company' (quoted on the Royal Collection Trust website). She wears a gown embroidered with sequins, an ermine scarf, a sash pinned with Royal family orders and Queen Victoria's fringe brooch, Queen Victoria's bracelet, Queen Victoria's ruby necklace and earrings, and the Oriental tiara.
