Munby's poem 'Violet', pen and ink on paper, mounted, framed and glazed, image to view approx. 130 x 122mm., signed 'from J.M.'s monogram' lower right, [1860] Footnotes: The finished ink sketch of 'Violet' by Millais relating to the wood-engraving by Joseph Swain which was published in Once a Week on 28 July 1860 to accompany a poem by A.J. Munby ('She stood, where I used to wait/For her, beneath the gaunt old yew...').
