'Because of their obviously ephemeral nature very few have survived and those that have are frequently underrated... Any dustwrapper before about 1885 ought to be recorded, perhaps in some central register' (Robin de Beaumont, 'Nineteenth Century Publisher's Bindings 1820-1900', The Private Library. Quarterly Journal, Fourth series, Vol. 9, No. 1, 1996). This copy of Daedalus is 'one of a clutch of about seven which turned up in a country auction a couple of years ago having been kept in a drawer by the author's family for over a century. By the end of the view only about three survived. This was one of the best' (idem).
